In loving memory of the late Florence Irene ( Rene) Clarke who sadly passed away on 19th March 2015. Mum was born in Nuneaton in 1928, the only girl amongst five children born to Florence and Thomas Mills. Her father was a miner who worked for 58 years in various mines around Nuneaton. Her mother , whom she was named after(but disliked the name, always wanting to be known as Rene), was a machine operator in the stocking trade and was from the Fielding family of Hinckley. Mum was keen Girl Guide and attended Arbury school (Now St Thomas Moore). She worked at first as a bookbinder for Cawthornes in Nuneaton, but had a break from work to bring up her family, returning in the late 60's to work as a domestic at George Eliot Hospital. Mum met her husband to be Thomas Clarke a railway worker at a local dance , dancing being a passion of her early years. They married in February 1951 and moved into Edward Street Nuneaton. Mum gave birth to two sons David Edward in 1952 and Alan in 1956. The family moved to Montrose Drive in the early 70's. Mum was always a neighbourly person, being part of a network of neighbours in Edward Street she carried this over to Montrose Drive and over the years both gave and received help, love and support from her fellow Montrose residents. Another great part of Mum's life was her love of dogs, a favourite pastime of hers was walking the many dogs she cared for over the years around the fields at the back of the house. Mum had five grandchildren, and at latest count six great grand children, all of whom she loved and was always keen to hear how they were getting on. Following husband Tom's death mum had to face many adversities brought on by her advancing years, but she was never alone in facing those adversities surrounded as she was by family and friends who cared deeply for her, she will be sadly missed .
