Matthew was born on 4th November 2012 in dramatic style coming feet first unexpectedly. He literally fought the odds since day one surviving bleeding on his brain, seizures, failure to thrive and developmental delay.
At 6 months old he was diagnosed with PMM2-CDG (CDG1a), we knew then he would be having some tough times.
Matthew battled every part of his body having an issue but he always did so with a smile on his face.
At age 4 he had two stroke episodes linked to his condition, we were told to prepare to lose him in 24 hours. In true Matthew style he refused to follow the expected and came through it blowing away all medics with his resilience.
As you can imagine as a family we cannot believe he is now actually gone, we only hope to keep his memory and his smile with us for the rest of our lives.
Thank you
Sarah, Stuart and Olivia.

A small note,
Instead of any funeral flowers please can we ask that you for donations to CDG UK, the charity we are trustees of, enabling support, awareness, information and hopefully one day a treatment for CDG to ensure no child has to go through what Matthew did.

I am so so sorry for your loss. Matthew was a fantastic little boy who showed great resilience in his short life. He was a credit to you as a family and was so lucky to have you by his side. As a professional you made it easy for me to work with you, as all you ever wanted was the best for your little boy. I cannot imagine how you must be feeling or how you can think about moving forward, but I hope you take comfort in the many happy memories I know you have as a family. He was a very lucky little boy. Thinking of you all xxx
