In loving memory of Ronald (Ron) 'Possie' Georgeson, 67, who sadly passed away on Friday, 13th September 2019 at the Queen Alexandra Hospital Portsmouth, following a short illness. In his final days Ron was sensitively and expertly cared for by the staff at the QA hospital, and died peacefully surrounded by his immediate family.
Ron leaves his partner Carol Goldring; Son Terry Georgeson; Daughter Kimberly Sadberry; Son Gary Raife; Daughter Ricci Georgeson; Grandson Tyler; Granddaughters Livvy and Rae; Sister Linda Georgeson; and Brother Joseph Georgeson.
He was preceded by his father Joseph Georgeson, 66, in 1996 and by his mother, Thelma Buttery, 79, in 2011.
Ron was born in Felling, Tyne & Wear, before his parents moved to London in 1954, where he was brought up in London's east end, going first to Canon Barnett Primary School then onto Stepney Green Boys' School. On leaving school he continued to live in the east London area, before moving to Havant in 2004, a place that he fell in love with and called home.
Intelligent, resourceful and with a great deal of personal drive, Ron was able to turn his hand at most things professionally, but his real strengths lay in talking to people, a skill he utilised for much of his working life, successfully selling cars for various high profile manufacturers.
Ron was a gregarious man, fond of entertaining others and with a joke never far from his lips. He enjoyed holidaying abroad and welcomed new experiences. He was a skilled cook and enjoyed cooking and providing for others, and was an affectionate and generous man to family and friends. He was also an animal lover and was an advocate for animal rights and against animal cruelty. Ron was also a fiercely proud and principled man, with a strong sense of natural justice, making him a great ally to have by your side. He was also a passionate football fan, following his beloved Liverpool FC, and he also greatly enjoyed music from all eras, but particularly The Beatles, which first sparked his love of Liverpool FC.
Ron was a larger than life character who always left an impression on everyone he met, and he was certainly someone who lived life to the absolute limit, but most of all, Ron was a wonderful partner, father, brother, son and friend, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him and will never be forgotten.
The service for Ron will be held on:
Tuesday 1st October 2019 at 1.15pm, at Upper Cornaway Ln, Portchester, Fareham PO16 8NE.
This will then be followed by a wake to celebrate Ron’s life, at:
The Prince of Wales public house, 164 West St, Havant PO9 1LR.
Finally, the family have asked that anyone who wishes to provide flowers or other gifts for him and the family by way of tribute to him, to please consider donating to one of the two charities that have been nominated in his honour instead. They are the Queen Alexandra Hospital charity, as they provided such good care for him throughout the latter stages of his life, and; the Hayling Island Donkey Sanctuary, which is a small local charity dedicated to the rescue, shelter and care of donkeys. This little place was very dear to Ron's heart and he had planned to get more involved with their work before his health began to fail, so he would be very happy to know that these lovely animals have been helped in some way by his family and friends.
