In loving memory of Stephen Franks, who sadly passed away on 3rd September 2019.

Born 9th January 1953 to Marjorie and Alfred Franks, Steve always had a passion for sports, football in particular. He would make the long journey to watch Spurs play at White Hart Lane, where in later years he became a season ticket holder.

Having a good eye for accuracy and fine detail, Steve went to college in High Wycombe and became an apprentice draughtsman at ITW. He had a fulfilling career, lastly working for Tecan until his retirement.

In 1982 he married Julie and fathered two daughters, Holly and Zoe, of whom Steve was always exceptionally proud. During their married years Steve started playing golf. This soon became more than a hobby for Steve, and he could always be found on a golf course (or at least somewhere hitting a few balls.) He shared his passion for golf and football with his partner Lynnette. They won many trophies together and were both Captains at Alton Golf Club. Joining Blackmoor Golf Club led Steve and Lynnette to make so many close friends, who supported them both through Steve’s treatment for cancer this year.

Steve will be sorely missed, and his memory will live on in those who were lucky enough to know him.

Steve was my mum’s cousin, but we always knew him as uncle Steven - my mum always referred to Steven and Michael as they were brothers and sister as they spent so much time together growing up. They were a close extended family as children. I have fond memories of family gatherings and I hoped to share so many photos - sadly unable to find many. I’ve had a lovely but poignant morning looking through the old photos of all the family we have loved but lost. Of the family, I hope you will allow me to remember that close unit who are so sadly missed - Grandma Violet, Grandad Arthur, Auntie Marge, Daddy Alf, Mum Dawn, Dad John, Uncle Michael and Uncle Steven. A family lost, but a family remembered always by the people who love them.

It was a real pleasure and privilege to get to know you, Steve. Interesting, intelligent, friendly and funny, you were always good company and you would always make me smile. The relatively small amount of time we spent together has created fond, lasting memories.
Rest in Peace.

A truly fantastic guy. Amazing partner to Lynnette and a lovely uncle to Emily, Jacques and Sophie. His dry wit was never very far away; particularly when playing golf with John and Jacques...who will both remember their games with great fondness( most particularly their first game at Blackmoor with him, where he was especially good at saying ‘unlucky’ without actually appearing to move his mouth). Gone far too soon but remembered forever...
