What a fantastic teacher and gentleman. I have a lot to thank you for, without you keeping me on track at school I may not have ended up on a good path. We kept in touch after I moved to Canada and tried to track you down a few years ago but sadly missed you. My deepest condolences to Moria and his wonderful family he was proud of

Bill was one of life's gentlemen. It was always a pleasure to have a chat with him. He took such a great interest in people and had great tips about places to visit. We shall all miss him. Rest in peace.

Our Memories of Bill

We will miss you greatly. Family has always been central to you and Moira. You taught them the importance of looking out for each other and now I hope they will give each other the strength and support at this difficult time.

You had a dignity and style all of your own. You loved to share knowledge; not only from your teaching days but from places you had visited and people you had met along the way. It was a privilege to share those conversations with you.

We shared many a happy holiday walking in the Lake District with Moira, your family and friends. Around the table of an evening, we would share meals, wine and listen to your hilarious tales, play games and plan walks for all the families. None of these happy memories would have happened if it was not for you and Moria.

Abroad in France and Spain we enjoyed holidays with your family and the Waterhouse family. I will never forget on one “boys night out” returning to the campsite only to be chased by the security guards as lights went on everywhere like a scene from the Flintstones.

You encouraged and taught me to sketch and paint in watercolours - “Payne’s Grey” being a suitable choice for the novice and together with a “Kolinski sable” paintbrush - always with such style.

It has been a privilege to know you Bill and to share so many happy times with you and your Family.

Robert, Carole and Family

When we first met Bill he was a member of the very handsome male PE department of Crown Woods. Jo was the new girl in the female PE department in September 1976. Bill struck up a friendship with Alan playing tennis at RACS. And famously the Kent Open; first round losers 6-0,6_1 but getting free entry to the Beckenham Tournament.
30 years or so later we found Bill and Moira again. We could not believe it when we saw them in the ‘Hut’ in Burgau. Since then we have met most years and come to know Alex and Leon and their lovely family.
We loved meeting Bill and Moira, always a tale to tell and a laugh to be had. Bill’s writing career showed a deeper side to his nature,an intelligent and thoughtful man. Bill and Moira and Alex and Leon have become part of our Burgau experience and enriched our lives in Portugal.
We will miss Bill he was great company and a dear friend.
Alan and Jo.

Bill was a lovely man. When we met in the gym with his brother he would take him by his hand and put him on the equipment he had to work on. Bill was a keen photographer., whilst we were on the
thread mill slaving away we would talk about various cameras..... now that the digital cameras are in fashion he never liked them. He was a real 35mm film connoisseur like me. He had a good collection of cameras. Bill as a good friend and a photographer I will miss you.
