In loving memory of Andrew John Shaw 47 of Leeds, who suddenly passed away at the Leeds General Infirmary with his family by his side, he slipped away peacefully at 11:47pm on Sunday 21st July.

Andy was the son to the late Jack & Shirley Shaw, formly of stourton and then Hunslet. He was partner to Sharon, loving dad to Jack, Lauren & Alex, the grandad of Ruby, Jersey, Lucas and Theo. He was an adoring brother to Tracey, Uncle to Jessica & Jack and brother-in-law to Paul.

Anyone who knew Andy, knew he was a gentle giant and would do anything or give anything he could to his family, friends, neighbours and work collegues at Leeds City Council. He was highly thought of by his nearest and dearest and will be terribly missed by all who knew him. This is a very difficult and sad time for all.

Andy will arrive at Rothwell Church at 12:45pm on Wednesday 14th August for a service to celebrate his life where loved ones and friends can share memories and fun times they had with him. He will then leave the church and be taken to his final resting place in Rothwell Haigh Cemetry at 2pm.

Anyone who knew Andy is welcome to attend the service or follow on to his resting place. The reception will be held at the Crooked Clock pub, Sussex Avenue, LS10 2LF.

The family of Andy have requested family flowers only but are asking for donations in Andys memory. This will be donated to the ICU at the LGI where Andy was cared for in his final hours. There will be a collection at the church and a link to a just giving page below. Any donation is greatly appriciated.

A year has passed and the pain is harder than ever, just for you to walk through the gate and say “hi sis” or “alright sis” and you tell me about work, Alex and Lucas or to talk about mum and the old days. I really miss. “Can you look at this for me sis” some other letter you didn’t understand ahah. We always had each other’s back. Miss you xxx

Stood on the door, cig in ya hand. Budweiser braces looking so grand. Being polite as people came in, Playing fruit machines trying for a win. Those days have gone, all in the past. Thank god for memories that will always last.

Brother
You gave no one a last farewell, Nor ever said good-bye,
You were gone before I new it.
A million times I will miss you. A million times I will cry.
I hold onto our memories, the ones that are so dear,
If love alone could have saved you, You never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly. In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place, no one else can fill, for part of me went with you, the day they took you home.
I know I have been blessed to have you for a brother because you were the best..
