In loving memory of David Cammiss who sadly passed away peacefully at home on 10th July 2019 aged 82. Loving husband to Jean Cammiss and proud Dad to Andrew and Jonathan. David was a lovely man who will be missed so much by his family and friends.

I started fly fishing about 10 years ago and after buying all my flies initially, I thought that it would be more interesting to tie them myself. David’s Beginners course was my first exposure to fly tying and with his relaxed style he showed how easy fly tying could be. For my ‘basic’ patterns of Buzzer, Cat’s Whisker, Minkie and many more I still revert to his easy-to-understand videos rather than the more recent, dare I say it, complicated patterns that are now available on the internet. A very sad loss to the fly tying community.

Just returned to Fly Tying after an unforeseen break. Sorry to hear David's passing, he was an inspiration, his voice on the instructional videos was "down to earth" his enthusiasm for the art was apparent. Thank you for the hours of watching you and trying to keep up with your art, pressing the hold key and rewinding to keep up.
God Bless.

I remember at the age of 9 years old after getting a fly rod as a gift, I instantly became obsessed with the sport and David's videos on YouTube were the first videos I ever watched on fly tying. His lessons I always will remember and well over a decade later I still use what I remember from his videos. I am saddened to hear of the news and I wish I could have given him a proper thank you. Truly a wonderful man who has influenced thousands with his passion.

My name is Christopher and I'm from the US. I was just learning the art of fly tying when I found David's videos. Due to difficult times I had gotten away from the internet and trying for a while. I was going to pick it back up or try to. And I was searching for David's work and found that he had pass. Though I did not know him personally, he was a great teacher of his craft. And I will surely miss my virtual time with him teaching me and so many others the art and pleasure of tying flies. My belated condolences for your loss. God bless.
