In loving memory of Douglas Henry Turner who sadly passed away on 27th June 2019.

Doug was born in March 1922 on the first day of Spring. He grew up in Stockwell south London and had an elder sister Joan.

He joined RAF at the start of WW2 and later the London Rifle Brigade. He rarely spoke of the war, but served in the Middle East and helped resettle refugees after the war ended.

After the war he moved with his mother to Westcliff and worked as an engineer, years later becoming Company Director. He joined the local Shakespeare Company where he met Wendy, who 6 yrs later became his wife.

They had two children, Charlotte and Matthew.

Douglas was a lovely, kind man with a twinkle in his eye and he retained his mischievous sense of humour all his life. He loved classical music and had a wonderful singing voice.

He will be missed by all who knew him.
