Nancy Goddard (8 Sep 1923 - 26 Jun 2019)

In loving memory of Nancy Goddard who sadly passed away on 26th June 2019

Nancy was born in Ridgedale, Canada on 8th September 1923 , as the first child of Francis and Sarah Armitage. This happy event was shortly followed with the arrival of her sisters Celia and Miriam. The family decided to return to England in 1931 and continued their farming way of life. The family were members of The Quaker faith and as a result Nancy went on to be educated at Ackworth school. After schooling Nancy trained as a nurse and midwife and spent many happy years working at Nottingham General hospital. Nancy first met her future husband William Goddard at the Quaker meeting house in Nottingham. They got married in 1957 and were delighted with the arrival of their first son Raymond in 1958, James followed shortly after and the family was made complete with the arrival of Elizabeth. William and Nancy had a long and happy marriage and celebrated 40 years shortly before William passed away in 1999. Nancy remained a positive and active Granny to her nine grandchildren. Her patience, kindness and enthusiasm for the activities of her extended family and friends remained undimmed until she passed away peacefully on 26th June 2019 aged 95.

Nancy's service will be a Quaker meeting, Quaker's do not traditionally wear black at funerals.
