A poem to Philip

Keep Smiling

You liked to say ‘Keep Smiling’
Pretend you were okay
As if a smile emoji
Could hold the dark at bay.
I wish you’d talked, or asked for help
Not ‘brave-faced’ it alone
I wish you’d loved yourself enough
To just pick up the phone.
And now we rue the smile you kept
That innocent motto
For your dear child left here on earth
Will not her father know
‘Remember, Keep Smiling’
Was your valedictory bow
But though we will remember,
It’s hard to smile now.

You were far too young to be taken so soon. A whole life ahead of you full of opportunities and to shine as a daddy. You will be loved and missed by a lot of people Phil. I haven’t seen you for a good few years but I often think back at my time working with you in the kitchen and the silly antics me you Sara and Terry used to get up to. They were fun times had by all. But now you have gained your angel wings it’s tine to fly high and be free. Sleep tight and rest in eternal peace.
Jakki. Xx
