In loving memory of Joan Mary Smith who was born on the 26th July 1934 to Tom and Nellie Williams who also already had Marjorie Elizabeth, then they adopted David. They lived in Liverpool where Joan, Marjorie and David grew up. They stayed together when World War II broke out. In 1953 she received the tragic news that her Dad had died of a heart attack on the way home from a conference in Brighton. Her Mum was devastated and moved Joan, David to the Isle of Man where her Mum had grown up in her younger years. Marjorie was then married to Richard Wilson. Mum worked as a private secretary at Martin Bakers where she met David who worked on the shop floor as a auto/lathe and tool setter, he was told by a colleague that Mum liked Coke Cola and Mars Bars so he used to send her them with a message. Joan didn't like them and said," to stop sending them if he couldn't be bothered to talk to her himself not to bother". David then plucked up the courage and asked her out on a date, they later got married on 26th March 1959 at a church in Port St Mary. On the 4th January 1960 Carol Anne was born then on 18th March Micheal Anthony was born. Joan and David then moved to Sussex and on the 7th July 1971 Joanne Lesley was born, then in 1974 moved back to the Isle of Man to be near Joan's Mum and brother David. Joan and David moved round the Island, Joan joined the WI and enjoyed photography with David and the joined a photography club and also a postal one. which later on of Joan's photos traveled to Canada where a relative sent it back to her sister who recognized it. Also Joan enjoyed embroidery, knitting and baking cakes for the WI. In 1989 Joan and David moved back to England to Nottingham to be near to Mike and his wife Linda who was pregnant. Joanne then also moved over to be with them, then in 1990 Emma Louise was born the first Grandchild. Carol then got married and Katy Lauren was born on 1996 and then Amy Rose 1997 also that year Joanne got married to Andrew John Hicklin then in 1998 Ellan Frances was born then Laura Jane in 2000, then in 2005 Paul Robert was born. Joan enjoyed watching the grandchildren grow up and family get together's. Joan sadly had a fall in 2015 and was then never able to get out of bed. Always the optimist and never complained she loved reading and crosswords, on 26th March her and David celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, but unfortunately she got weaker and passed away peacefully at home with David and Joanne by her side, also sadly the day after the card from the Queen arrived.

We will always remember Joan's kindness and thoughtfulness. She would always send George and Hannah birthday cards and money and a wedding anniversary card each year for David and me. All our love to you David from the Osbornes xxx
