In loving memory of Alan Michael Connell who sadly passed away suddenly at home on 19th May 2019 aged 52. Loving husband to Julie, much loved Dad to Matthew, Becky and Aisling, wonderful Son, Brother, and Brother-in-law. He was much loved by all his family and will be sorely missed.

The family would love you to share any memories, photos or messages of Alan whilst visiting this page as it will bring great comfort to us and everyone who knew him. He had such a great sense of humour so any funny stories would be lovely too.

The funeral details can be seen on the right. Please let us know if you will be attending. All welcome. Dress code is to be smart, but in line with Alan's laid-back nature, the choice of wearing colours or traditional black may be left to the individual. His favourite colour was red so please feel free to add a splash of red to your outfit. The service at the church will be followed by tea/coffee and cake whilst the family attend the commital at the crematorium. The family will then return to the church for the wake.

Family flowers only please, but donations may be given in memory of Alan if desired. The charities chosen are the British Heart Foundation and the Dog's Trust which is where we got our beloved dog, Martha whom Alan adored.

Dearest Alan

Your quiet, gentle soul blossomed in the sunshine of your love for your incredible wife Julie.

Your three amazing and talented children, Matthew, Becky and Aisling, were nurtured by your enduring love and kindness, which is reflected in all the wonderful things they accomplish.

In our hearts you will be forever our gentle giant, the boy with a twinkle in his eye and a laugh on his lips which filled us with happiness.

If only we could once again meet we would tell you how much we love and admire you, and how proud we are of everything you were and could have been had you not been taken from us so tragically.

You were a great brother, brother-in-law and uncle. Sleep well, dear angel of a man.

With all our love, Peter, Michelle, Sarah, Jonathan and James. xxxxxx

So sad of the loss of by great Brother in Law Alan. He was a very quiet man on the whole but had a great sense of humour. Whenever there was a twinkle in his eye or a broad smirk you know he was going to come out with something funny (or he had already been up to no good! lol) He was a great Uncle to both my daughters but especially Claire who he always took time to talk with her and entertain her at family occasions. Claire is always one to write the family birthday cards as always puts a lot of thought into them. Alan received the usual 'Greatest Uncle' card with her usual essay inside (how wonderful he is and how he is the best uncle in the whole wide world...) but she wrote the card 'To Uncle Claire...!' obviously was thinking too much about what she was going to write! He didn't batter an eyelid but found the funny side. He was a great husband to Julie and Dad to Matthew, Becky and Aisling. He wore his heart on his sleeve and his family meant everything to him. He has definitely left a big hole in their lives but I know he will always be watching out for them xxx Love you lots xxx I will always be here fore you all not matter what xxxx
