Rita Doris Sawyer, age 83, of Stowmarket, Suffolk passed away peacefully on Saturday 1st June 2019, surrounded by her immediate family. After bravely battling major health issues, she is now at rest.

Rita was married to Ron in 1956; they were devoted to each other, were blessed to have three children, Rebecca, Paul and Carolyn and two grandchildren who she adored, Joshua and Ria. Ritaโ€™s greatest pleasure was being surrounded by family and friends, especially children and loved nothing more than having an open house where she could welcome everyone.

Rita was born in Hackney, London on 24th July 1935. The war years proved challenging but were made easier by the strength and love she received from her mum and two brothers, Gerald and Peter. After the war Rita spent her years growing up in East London.

She met Ron in, of all places, an open air swimming pool; their first date was Ron picking her up on his motorbike. After getting married they set up home in Ilford, Essex, taking her mum along to live with them. Rita spent her years loving and nurturing her children, helping them grow and develop into adulthood.

She also spent many years supporting Ron with his business, proving to be his rock not only emotionally, but also in work.

In her latter years Rita moved to Suffolk to live with Carolyn and the two of them, along with Ria, had six wonderful years living together sharing many happy times and making many precious memories.

The funeral will be held on Friday 14th June, 1:00pm at St.Peter and St. Maryโ€™s Church, Church Walk, Stowmarket, IP14 1ET. This will be followed by burial at Stowmarket New Cemetery, Violet Hill Road; then a gathering at The Shepherd and Dog, Lower Road, Onehouse, Stowmarket, IP14 3BX.

ALL WELCOME

The family preference is flowers (Rita loved flowers) but donations to a charity of your choice in lieu would, of course be welcome.

Search in your heart, and you will find, I am no more than a step behind. I walk with you, but you don't see, yet in your heart you'll know it's me.

Of course not Ria, I'd never push you in the pool! - Nan 2012 ~ Now it's Ron's turn again to goof around with you in a pool somewhere up there, just like you did when you first met xx

2012 - a year of colossal laughter, making gloop and chasing you with it, dressing you up in all my jewellery, stealing your mobility scooter at Yarmouth for the umpteenth time, and most importantly, LOVE - this is the way I'll remember you x

So sorry to hear the sad news of your mum Rita. She was an amazing lady, a lovely smile, a fellow Londoner like me and a great character at the local Slimming World group. I shall miss her terribly and will think of her always, living forever in my heart.

Rita has been the most amazing Mother In-Law to me and a wonderful Grandmother to my children. She always showed me such love especially when I lost my own mother. I will always remember her with a smile and beautiful memories. I feel truly blessed to have felt her loving arms around me. Mum will be so greatly missed by all who have had the honour of knowing her but will be joyous in the knowledge that she is back in The arms of Ron. Gone from this world but never from our hearts.

May the angels carry you safely home mum.
