I write this on behalf of all of my family who have recently lost a mother, nana, friend and matriarch.
Margaret Jeanie Brown, who was born on the 20th of October 1938 and sadly passed away on the 29th of May 2019, was born and raised in Springburn, Glasgow, most of her life until eventually moving to Arden with husband James and her three children. Margaret then eventually spent the remainder of her days happily living in Thornliebank surrounded by friends.
•••
She was a mother to three children- Martin, Colin and Shirley as well as the Nana to five grandchildren- Victoria, James, Jordan, Emma and Ryan. She also had three great-grandchildren- Emily, Harrison and Holly. Margaret shared some of her most wonderful and joyous moments with them.
•••
Margaret was a true pillar of the community, especially in Arden where she ran the kids club. Most of her working life was in the Rawplug in Thornliebank. This is also where she would meet lifelong friends who would share some of her fondest memories- from hilarious holidays to iconic Halloween parties.
•••
Margaret was instantly recognisable. You could usually spot her from a mile away, always sporting her distinctive round frames and short curls that became a quintessential part of her look. As well as a dozen shopping bags hanging off her arm.
•••
We will always treasure the memories we have of Margaret who will forever in our hearts always be our mother, nana, queen of making Clootie Dumpling, avid shopper, and dear friend.
•••
Also, instead of flowers, we would be so kind in asking you to make a donation of any amount to the Beatson Cancer Charity who provided impeccable care and support when Margaret was in their care. We thank you in advance for your generosity.
