Last Journey by Timothy Coote

There is a train at the station, With a seat reserved for me,
I’m excited about its destination As I’ve heard the seats are free.

The trials and tribulations, The pain and stress we breathe,
Don’t exist where I am going Only happiness I believe.

I hope that you will be there, To wish me on my way
It’s not a journey you can join in, It’s not your time today.

There’ll be many destinations, Some are happy some are sad
Each one a brief reminder, Of the great times that we’ve had.

Many friends I know are waiting, Who took an earlier train
To greet and reassure me, That nothing has really changed

We’ll take the time together, To catch up on the past
To build a new beginning, One that will always last

One day you’ll take the journey, On the train just like me
And I promise that I’ll be there, At the station and you will see

That life is just a journey, Enriched by those you meet
No one can take from you, Its always yours to keep

But now as no seat are vacant, You will have to muddle through
Make sure you fulfil your ambitions, As you know I’ll be watching you

And if there is an occasion, To mention who you knew
Speak kindly of that person, As one day it will be you

Now I can’t except this ending, And as its time for me to leave
Please make haste to the reception, To enjoy the food and drink – its free

I am so sorry that I will be unable to be at Johns funeral today, but I have many happy memories of times at Brick Kiln Farm and also meeting up with John these past few years and he was always good company. Hopefully now he can rest in peace after a very successful career and life and be reunited with his beloved Mary.

Angela Goldsmith donated £20 in memory of John

In loving memory of a dear gentleman. I was only a kid when I met "Uncle Johnny Buck" as all the kids called John. My parents were in the RAF when they met John and Mary, and I was fortunate to meet up with him again only recently. I am only sorry we didn't meet up sooner. Rest in peace John. With many fond memories.

Uncle Johnny Buck, it was a pleasure to have called you such a special friend. The Bucks and the Selways went back years. We had such fun in Singapore, where you and Mary treated me like a daughter. RIP my friend, and tell my Dad to behave himself!!!!XX

Alas another family member has said good bye, I respected cousin John from an early age, he gave me a pillion ride on his motorbike at Southwold up to the Harbour, I hung on we must have broken the speed limit. Brick Kiln Farm was my second home Uncle Regie & Auntie Lilly must have done something right bringing John & Margaret up to become respected members in society. John married Mary both then serving in the RAF, Nigel came first followed by Barry, the family moved around the world because of Johns distinguished service career eventually settling in RoT. Upon retiring from the forces John went on to further developing his career in civilian street. His sons followed in his footsteps one to the Police service the other to the RAF, both successful in there chosen fields. I can remember the famous festive parties hosted by John & Mary, each more enjoyable than the previous.
John will never be forgotten by anybody who came into contact with him. R.I.P.
Although not able to attend the funeral I will be there in spirit, god speed to Mary!

Dear all, I am sorry I will miss John's funeral but I can assure you that I will be with you in spirit.
John, Mary, Mo & I were the best of friends from 1972 onwards. Mo & Mary, in particular, enjoyed each others company. We were all bingo addicts & John & I enjoyed playing the fruit machines. Somehow we always seemed to win !!!. House parties were some of the high lights of our friendship will Den & Doris Dennis, John & Dorothy Birks & Alan & Ann Barton where card games were played & buffet meals were enjoyed. Everything seemed so natural & uncomplicated in those days. We had a holiday in Ibiza which really cemented our friendship. We regularly had picnics with all the children & we played games in the open air. John & I once organised an outing to the theatre-royal for Mo & Mary to see Engle Humperdink on stage. I'm sure when we all meet again on the other side we will carry on where we left off, so although 9 out of the 10 of us are already there someday I will be with you all. We will have fun like we did in the past. God bless you, John, rest in peace & say hello to the old group for me. Mike
