In loving memory of Dawn Barnes who sadly passed away on 23rd May 2019, aged 76.
Dawn was a lover of life, having many passions including circle dancing/ music/ the arts and a love of the outdoors and all animals big and small.
As well as a long career in many areas of the teaching profession she was wife to George, mum to Gabby, sister to John and a loving Grandma to Jasper and Olin.
Having spent over 40yrs living in New Ash Green she had made many firm and long lasting friendships which helped her to heal after the death of George, my dad. She valued these friendships immensely and the comfort and support they brought to her when she was battling her illness.
She had faced and fought many years of ill health always with a determined will and a smile on her face. Never one to ask for help, fiercely independent, she battled on through unpleasant treatment after treatment. A force to be reckoned with right up until her last days, her mind sharp and sense of humour still intact.
Mum spent her last few days being cared for with love and dignity at the Ellenor hospice in Northfleet. We will be eternally grateful for the care and warmth they showed both of us at a time when we needed it most.
You’re are invited to attend her funeral on
Friday 14th June at 11.30 am at Ash Church and following afuneral tea at Ash village hall, a place where she had many happy memories circle dancing.
We are asking that people do not buy flowers but rather make a donation, either via the link on this page or envelopes at the service to the Ellenor hospice or if preferred the Blue cross.
You're invited to bring a single stem/flower or foliage from your garden or cut flower as there will be an opportunity during the service to come up and place your flower into the weave on mum's casket. This is not obligatory but it will give friends/family a moment to share a private thought/word with Dawn. This will form part of the service whilst a favourite piece of Dawn's music is played.
She had requested that black should not be worn but would love for people to be bright and colourful.
Please could you indicate if you will be attending using the button below.
Thank you.
