I wanted to share our reading (I have had to shorten it to fit on this website) Our Nanna/Nannie,
Many in this room called you Jean or Jeanie. Four called you Mum. But I am one of few who had the great honour of calling you Nanna or Nanny. Our Nanna Knight who has created such a wonderful legacy that I know we are all so proud to be part of.
Nanna’s strong will and independence inspired us and many others around her. For us she made us realize that you can do what you want with life; enjoy it, work hard and success will follow.
Family was always at Nanna’s heart and she always put family first. She installed in us that family was and always should be a priority. Generations of Knights in the future will have this as part of their makeup thanks to Nanna’s/Nanny’s strong views.
She was there through the good times and the hard and her strong spirit always provided guidance and support. She laughed and cried through her own experiences and ours.
Even though our Nanna/Nanny is no longer present in the flesh, she will always be present in our thoughts and actions as she installed so many precious values to our family network that will continue and be passed down for generations.
For many here today times may feel difficult, but I know in time to come we will all reflect with joy and warmth in our hearts as we remember all the precious memories we were all so lucky to have with you. I know today we are saying goodbye, but heaven has gained an angel, Nanny is reunited with Granddad and one day we will all be reunited together again. Until then.
