In loving memory of the late Richard John Shell who passed away peacefully on 23rd March 2014. Husband of the late Rita and father of Mark. Funeral Service at St Margaret's Church, Topsham, on Thursday April 3rd 2014 at 2.00pm, followed by private committal at the Exeter & Devon Crematorium. Family flowers only please, but donations in memory of Richard may be left by retiring collection at the service, via online, or may be sent c/o

I am so sorry to find that John has passed. He is one of my happy memories of Topsham while I was visiting for an extended period from Canada. Many hours were spent as he talked about his pride and love for his son Mark, the love of his life Rita and his years at his work.
We attended a Christmas concert at St. Margaret's Church together, and after walking him home in the cold, sat and talked for hours about his life.
He also taught me I couldn't handle "G & T" at 10:00 or 11:00AM as I had to sleep for the rest of the day. I tried a few times, unsuccessfully, but simply didn't have his stamina. A lovely and gentle person. He will be missed.
