Hi Claire

For some unknown reason, earlier today I was thinking about Mr. Bowley and had a look online to see if there was any information on him. Well, I was very sorry to see an obit, but glad he lived for ninety years. I am 75 and have been living in Canada for more than fifty years, but back in the late fifties and early sixties, your father was our vet! We had a pony and dog. At that time, we lived on Reigate Heath, and I remember that your father organized and ran many pony club events for the Reigate gang. Our next door neighbour, Rosemary, worked as his secretary for a few years.

That’s all so long ago and far away now, but please know that I have very fond memories of your father and those times.

Val

Dear Claire,

I was sorry to learn of your father’s passing. In the late sixties your father let me ‘see practice’ at his clinic in Banstead. I was just 14. I enjoyed many weeks over several years visiting his clinic. Ian’s generosity provided me the mentorship and motivation to study veterinary medicine at the Royal Veterinary College. This degree has provided me a diverse and interesting career throughout my adult life– all of which leads back to those early days in Banstead.

I trust memories of your father provide you comfort during this difficult time.

With kind regards

Roger Pearce
