In loving memory of Glenys Mary Passey (née Duro), of Breaston, Derbyshire, who sadly passed away at home on the 21st April 2019. Glenys is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob), children David, Katie and James, and granddaughters Iris and Heidi.

Glenys attended Ilkeston Grammar School and City of Leeds Carnegie College, where she completed her teacher training. She went on to teach at Cotmanhay Junior School, finishing her career there too. In between she taught at Chilwell Comprehensive and Chaucer Infant School.

Glenys loved to travel, read and go walking, and was at her happiest surrounded by her family and friends in the garden or by the sea, with a glass in her hand. She leaves many a fond memory and will be sadly missed.

Following the service, everyone is welcome to join us, her close family, for afternoon tea at The Risley Park, Derby Road, Risley, DE72 3SS (https://therisleypark.co.uk/).

As per Glenys' wishes, black dress is optional.

Glenys also requested family flowers only, with donations in lieu to Bowel Cancer UK. A link for online donations can be found on this page, and donations will also be taken at the funeral itself.

Many happy memories of Scottish holidays and girly days when we were both manless. You will be sadly missed.

My ex husband and I bumped into Bob and Glenys at our children’s schools over years and, later on, I shared a class with Glenys at Cotmanhay. Always dedicated and a great sense of humour. Taken far too soon x

I still remember the fruit cakes you baked for me when I was a poor hungry student!

Glenys was a wonderful sister in law, she was always positive and had a wicked sense of humour. We had some great weekends together as a family with lots of laughter and one or two drinks.
She made my big brother's life complete, giving him a delightful family.
Glenys will be sorely missed and her life was far too short. Love you and miss you Glenys xxx

Glenys has left a lasting impression on us. She was one of the warmest and most joyful people either of us will ever meet. Her lasting positive influence on the world radiates through the wonderful family she so sadly leaves behind.

It was Glenys who suggested a few years ago that ‘the Passeys’ might get together more often just for the fun of it rather than waiting for weddings and funerals, of which there had been a few. There followed several get togethers. As a consequence, we have been in closer contact in recent years and we have Glenys to thank for that.

We also tried to see Bob and Glenys whenever we were nearby, to enjoy a good lunch and a glass of something together. Glenys was always there to make ‘yes’ the obvious answer to any question of dessert and we loved her for that too.

Thank you Glenys for being you and for encouraging us all to be more like you too. You made the world a better place and we will think of you often, whenever we get together, raise a glass or simply order dessert. You will be greatly missed.

With love to Bob and all the family

Sally & Andrew
xx
