Andy Garrett passed away on 18th April 2019 after a having a heart attack the previous week. Whilst he fought back as best he could, the heart attack was just too big for him.
His family are understandly devastated by this. Andy was as physically fit as he had ever been in his life, training for the world Aqua/bike championships where he had qualified to represent GB in early May in Portugal. He would be so disappointed to know that he’s been withdrawn from the race.
Andy was married to Claire for 30 years and they have 3 children, Connie, Martha and Eliza. His devoted dogs Reggie and Maggie are lost without him. Andy and Claire had recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary with a trip to Rome.
Andy was enjoying life to the full - still running his gardening business 3 days a week, walking dogs, meetings friends and arguing about Brexit and Theresa May, and cycling and swimming at every available opportunity. When he wasn’t on his bike, he’d be playing cycling games on his iPad. He also loved a holiday and a girly cocktail, with Claire, with friends or with his family.
For someone who claimed to like his own company and not make friends easily, Andy has made a big impact on so many people. There is going to be a massive hole in our lives which can never be filled. We will continue to love him and talk about him - remembering his rubbish jokes, cheese sandwiches and grubby backpack. He will always be with us and will be part of everything that we do.
We will love and miss him every day.
