In loving memory of the late Morris Martin who sadly passed away on 22nd February 2015

simon reid wrote

Well this time yesterday I said goodbye to the strongest father in law he was built up with strength, courage, loyalty and welcoming heart. He never judged me and never said a bad thing I knew that all he wanted from me was to make sure I looked after his daughter and grandchildren and great grandchilden. Morris was a legend I can spend the rest of my life looking but I never find a gentlemen like him. I will do my up most to keep your daughter and grandchildren save from any harm. I know that you have trust me as you have not doubted me over the last 9 years and I honour you that much. I think about all the people I could and would change to keep you here with us all but I know your in a better place and now pain free but it doesn't help knowing that we all wanted you to stop with us for eternity. Truly missed Morris Martin.

Granddad I've been asked to write something to say goodbye to you, Now I'm sat here like a smurf not knowing what to do?

I can't write the pain I feel, the emptyness the loss-how about ignore it all and I'll tell you about dinner supplied by Stross?

Problem with this writing Granddad it makes it all so true- first time I'll ever say this- but this isn't about me it's all about you!

So this is what I'll tell them Granddad- the story all about you.

You were the greatest Granddad all my words are true- Earth gained an angel the day grandma delivered you

Your kids bred like bunnies giving you a crew- a crazy mob of wild ones - we all looked up to you

Times weren't always easy- in fact many were hard but you didn't let it dampen your spirit or tarnish your loving heart

In fact you embraced life took it on the head- "Screw it our Donna were Martins" a life motto you always said.

Black perfect quiff, fag and a brew- mouth spouting funny stories- sprinkled with a swear word or two!

Big sparkling blue eyes- glasses and tape- always dressed smart Granddad never looked a state

A sole the shines aluminous and bright- a true definition of a man with the ultimate zest for life

A heart that projects and was felt no matter how far- hey Granddad should I mention the road rage and trips in your car?

Sidney Mo on your lap, cricket on TV- House full of family that's was you content and happy

Your dinners were epic- no one else's come close- not only have we lost you Granddad it's goodbye to the best ever roast

Let's not mention Hextor was it nan that let him go? I'm not taking sides on this one guess we'll never know!

Nan moaning Morris- you shouting Jan- everyone of us loved Skegness- holidays in the van

I swear you loved to argue- Nan's favourite hobby too but don't you worry Granddad there's plenty of us to shout take her bingo and look after her for you

A thousand stories to tell and memories to share- not gonna lie granddad the family's in despair

But when the sun rises and the moon should fall- we'll remember the lessons you taught us all

Now it's time for me to let you rest so goodnight Granddad and god bless... Before I go I will just say- say goodbye to you? Me?? No way!!

Martins by blood- Granddad by nature- this isn't goodbye it's see you later- for I have a new motto - family rule "see you when I get there Granddad" as you will come for us all.

Love you Granddad Love Our Donna xxx
