My mum has known your mum for about 35 years
Together they were fun pair and have enjoyed many adventures together. Auntie Jenny was my mum’s Joan’s first friend up Northfield, with my mum leaving home (Handsworth) on a bitter note Auntie Jenny’s kind and open heart would begin a lovely friendship...although we moved back out of Northfield years later their friendship grew even stronger
When our mums were out, me and Lorraine used to phone and say is my mum at yours and I will also ask the same. We used to wonder where they would go out dancing or which party they were going to...
If I heard Auntie Jenny’s voice in the living room at ours I would dash down to see if she’d brought Lorraine with her and if Lorraine heard my mums voice in her living room she’d wonder the same too.
Auntie Jenny loved her music she was the embodiment of choons
If me and Lorraine were watching music videos I would say Auntie Jenny have you heard this and she would reply “I got the original” I would be thinking how is it its a new song it’s a new release...she had vinyls like you wouldn’t believe, her dilemma was whether she would replace them with cds because she had already replaced vinyl with cassette....her memorable phrase was “flaming heck” whenever she was shocked at some news or surprised it used to make me chuckle...she will missed so much, I still can’t believe she is gone...her spirit is still around she had such a strong personality you can feel her in the air, in the music you listen to, in the way she used to enjoy herself...my mum has a voicemail telling her “I still got your present up the house” even in the last few weeks of her life when she was in hospital she was saying “I still got your present up the house” ....when Lorraine asked me to help sort out Auntie Jennie’s vinyls I found a 45” by Johnny Nash song title ‘How good it is’ my mums name was written on the record...I thought maybe she had borrowed it from my mom all them years ago... when I listened to the track the lyrics were as though Aunty Jenny was talking to my mum saying she is alright where she is now...the lyrics go “ohhh how good it is to be here, ohhh how good it is to be here “
and she now Auntie Jenny has given it back to my Mum her best friend with a message from the other side.....
