In loving memory of John Joseph O'Brien who sadly passed away on 17th February 2019, surrounded by his family. Dad lived with Alzheimer's for the past eight years and spend the last two years in Oakleigh Care Home where he was extremely happy. Dad celebrated his 80th Birthday last May with all the family. Dad had a long and full life. He was born in Sutton in 1938 to mum Anne and Dad Anthony from County Mayo, Ireland. He had a Brother Michael who passed as a child, brother David and sister Annie (who passed away 7 years ago). After completing National Service he joined his dad in the family Building Company, which Steve and Mike took over when Dad retired.
Dad loved sports, he was a motor cyclist, and played Badminton and Tennis. He was a very keen golfer, spending much of his retirement at Chipstead Golf Club, and his other love, Arsenal Football Club.
John- known affectionately as Johnny- met and married the love of his life Beryl, in 1959 aged 21 years and had 5 children, Sharon, Lynda, Michael, Stephen and Kerry. He had 10 Grandchildren, Matthew, Emily, Nathalie, Gaby, Edward, Sam, Harley, Cameron, Tallula and Avalon, Step Grandchildren Katie and Bailey and 1 Great granddaughter, Erin. Beryl and Johnny were married for 59 happy years. Dad will be greatly missed by us all.
