  • Thank you Andre He leaves so many good memories and of course pointing everyone to Jesus always. Even when he was dying one teenager visited with her family and he asked her where she was with the Lord. She went home and turned to God. I was privileged to attend her baptism last year. Sending love. Alexis (Mary)

Deeply saddened to have randomly learned of the Rev’s passing... I was fortunate enough to have him both as a form tutor, history tutor and eventually wonderful mentor as one of (initially) only a few boys at Edgehill College. The first words he ever said to us were that he would never raise his voice - the first of many revelations he would pass on as he modelled a more compassionate and loving type of manhood, of significance particularly to me to a degree he may have been unaware. I send my profound sympathy to those he “leaves” behind, only - of course - in what will amount to only the most trivial sense - for he is only in that next place of healing light in God’s eternal grace. I am forever in your debt sir.

Dear Alexis, Amanda and Catherine.... how to express the impact that Clive had on our lives! From the early days of Glenda singing in the band with him to those wonderful times of choir musicals and all the blessings that accompanied them! But more than that was the deep friendship that was formed between your family and ours. So many shared experiences from our engagement (announced at choir) our wedding where Clive did a surprise choir song for us and Cath was our flowergirl, to sharing in your grief at the loss of Richard. So many memories. When we think of Clive it will always be with deep affection and thanks to God for the blessing he was to us and so many of our friends. To you we send so much love and our prayers that God would comfort you greatly as you mourn your special husband and dad.
Lots of love,
Charlie, Glenda, Nicole and Daniel. xxxx

Clive O' kill had such a huge impact on my life during the time that I knew him as musical director of St. James church choir. He accepted only our best and always praised us when we matched his expectation of us, with the his never to be forgotten words........."my babes" ! In the arms of our eternal Saviour..........R.I.P Clive. You will forever be missed !

We have so many wonderful memories of Clive: the St James musicals which were directed by Clive; the holiday we went on together; the crazy trip to the USA where he had to sleep on the floor of our tiny apartment; lots of laughter; the tragedy of the St James massacre, but most of all our shared love of the Lord Jesus and preaching the gospel. To think that now Clive is with His Lord and Saviour free from pain , free from sorrow and, most of all, free from sin! We cant wait to be at the biggest party ever with him, the marriage feast of the Lamb. For the family who are grieving the horrible wrench of death, we are so sad for you. May the gospel strengthen you with the sure hope of eternity with Jesus.

Dear Alexis. Cath and Amanda may the Lord comfort you at this very sad time. As can be seen from all these messages Clive had a major impact on our lives at St James. As choir members he challenged us in our Christian lives and it was a happy and memorable time which will stay with us for the rest of our lives. Clive also married us at St Stephens church in 1987. The years in the choir were a great blessing to me and a time of spiritual growth. I loved every minute of it.A special person who will be deeply missed by all of us whose lives he touched. With much love and prayers for you all.

Dear Alexis, Amanda and Catherine our deepest sympathy to you as you mourn. We remember Clive with such affection. I was a new believer when I joined the St James choir. He was such an encouragement to me. He married us in 1987 and again we have so much to thank him for in helping us to set a direction for a marriage with Jesus as our foundation. We remember with fondness, our visit to Devon and how great it was to be welcomed so warmly by Alexis and Clive so many years later. We send our love to you xxx

Dear Alexis, Amanda and Catherine,
What good and happy memories we have of our time in the St James Choir and all the socializing that went with it. And then the shock of the St James massacre and you losing Richard ended those happy times here in SA. A new beginning in the UK and more happy times followed, we remember the day we had together in London 7 years ago fondly. Today as you grieve once again, I pray for comfort and that you will feel God holding you tightly. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and an eternity of happy times to come.
Lots of Love
Mark and Jeanne Westgate

I am so grateful to have been blessed by Clive’s ministry. Absolutely loved my time in the St. James choir, doing amazing musicals and sharing wonderful fellowship. Clive was a visionary, an encourager, a friend. Who could forget his many pranks- like the ‘broken arm’ in a cast(which actually wasn’t) just before we went on stage! Thank you Alexis, Amanda and Cath for sharing him with us. May memories comfort you. Till we meet again xx

Dear Alexis and family, condolences and prayers to you all!clive was one of the best choir masters I sang under here in sunny South Africa and he was sunny by nature too, inspiring one to achieve greatly for the Lord, always wanting to do the best for God and to encourage others and uplift them, even thru your darkest days, his light still shone thru because it was anchored to Jesus! Mom (Ann Walters) sends her love and prayers also.

For the wonderful work by Avril and North Devon Hospice. My mum and sister Cath also make this donation in thanks to Burt and Russ of AVH Care who became more than just carers for my Dad, but friends. We thank Arc, Marie Curie nurses and the NHS consultants, nurses and hospital workers. We have been reminded of the goodness of human nature by many people who would say that they were just doing their jobs.

Dear Alexis
We jave the fondest memories of Clive from St James days. He was fabulous as a choirmaster and I can still see his laughing face. He was very generous in letting my dad write parts for his choir pieces. He loved being involved. We remember you all so well and send fondest love. I am in the UK for a while and would love to see you all someday. I am unable to attend on Thursday but you will all be in my thoughts. Sending love from Tim and Margie Biggs
