In loving memory of Baby Bethany Margaret Simpson who sadly passed away on 8th February 2019
As your eldest brother said “fly high butterfly” this time last week all was normal.... DONT take anything for granted.. this time last week Bethany had a head cold and it all changed so rapidly within 48 hours!!! Hold your children close and snuggle with them as much as possible, Bethany was doing “so well” even knowing she was poorly we all lost sight of the situation and took her bravery and resilience and bouncing back from the brink for granted... I screamed and cried when the gp called the ambulance after listening to her chest and it was crackling, her head cold had moved down into her chest soooo quickly and i said to andy remember being told a bad infection would finish her, little did i know 24 hours later the doctor would be proven right... she had tummy bugs and head colds throughout the winter but this bastard was too much for her to fight back. She was amazing, 1 planned open heart surgery, cath lab to put a stent in, emergency open heart surgery, SEPSIS being opened up again to be cleaned out, numerous cardiac arrests, being told 4 times she was going to die, being sent home on the 1st oct with a maximum of 24 hours to live...... she fought and won them all!! But this time it all happened really quick, the nurses couldn’t believe what they was seeing on the screen in-front of them, she had a good night and then decided she was tired, ill be honest, we got the phone call to say she was in cardiac arrest, the whole team were working on her straight away, but once she lost output, the never got a pulse. They all worked on her for 35 mins till we got there and another10 mins after till they called time. Im struggling of course but i have peace knowing that she didn’t suffer and it was quick. She needed to sleep... they say the good die young, well Bethany was extremely good as she grew her wings way too soon!!!
