In loving memory of Madeline Scott who sadly passed away, at home, on 5th February 2019 after a short illness. Madeline (or Mad, Maddy, Mrs Scott, Miss Draper, Granny, Mum.... however you knew her!) was active and full of drama and glamour until she became ill in August 2018.
She had just been on her second overseas holiday of the year - watercolour painting, drinking good wine with great friends, climbing 60 stairs to the top of a church tower in 40 degree heat to take panoramic photos - when she became poorly with the recurrence of a previous illness.
Madeline was a teacher, spending her whole career teaching in Annie Holgate Junior School in Hucknall, finally retiring well into her 60s. Throughout all of her life she enjoyed dancing, drama, poetry, writing and art - still tap dancing, writing and painting until last Summer.
Madeline was widowed in 1992, when her husband, Bill, died after a long illness. She was a devoted granny to Izzy and mum to Becky.
Rather than flowers, we are asking for donations to the two charities who gave us all such incredible help and support during Madeline's illness. The Macmillan nurse was outstanding and the Hospice at Home service from Nottinghamshire Hospice was a true blessing. All who knew her are welcome at Madeline's service on 26th February.
