In loving memory of Peter Davis (Reading University, Prudential Assurance Company) who sadly passed away on 28th January 2019 at St. Christopher's Hospice. Pete fought a long hard battle against cancer for many years and as a result lived well beyond expectations.

The South East Cancer Help Centre was a source of great support and comfort to him and his family throughout his illness. The centre provides a variety of support including art and craft groups, massage therapy, counselling and a social space through which Pete made many new friends. In the last weeks of his life, St Christopher's Hospice provided outstanding support for both Pete and his family and ensured that he was peaceful and comfortable in his final days. Pete's wishes were to raise awareness of these deserving local charities and we hope that with your donations they will be able to go on and support other people in their time of need.

Please feel free to share any memories or photos that you have of Pete below.

Pete will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Pete was one of a small band of people who were at Reading University in the late sixties, lived in St Patricks Hall and was a key member of RUBC - great memories - not many of us fit that bill and Pete's passing will leave a big gap. We will especially miss him at Henley later this year

We've known Pete since Stuart started his first job at Clifford Hymans and Pete was welcome support at this time and enjoyed pints with him at Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese. Contact was maintained when jobs were changed and marriages and children came along. We were very sorry to learn that Pete had developed myeloma before his sixtieth birthday - over the past decade, Pete demonstrated remarkable fortitude coping with the rollercoaster of treatments, as has Jenny. Both of them remained determined to make the most of the good times during the remissions, spending time at their caravan, enjoying the company of family and friends, going out to the theatre and for meals (where the chefs were able to cater for his dietary requirements). The wedding of daughter Penny to Tom (now the youngest Master of Wine in the world) was a special highlight. Over recent years we have enjoyed playing bridge with Pete and Jenny sustained by afternoon tea and we've been happy to bring salt-free flapjacks. Very sadly, Pete's most recent recurrence proved to be unconquerable and we will miss him greatly. Our deepest sympathy to Jenny, Penny and James and their partners - we hope that as time goes on, they will think back on all the happy times they have enjoyed over the years. Love Janet and Stuart xx
