In loving memory of Freda May Murden who sadly passed away on 9th January 2019 at home aged 89 years. Freda will be sadly missed by all her loving family and friends.

Freda was born on 27th November 1929 @ Stoneford. Daughter to Fred & May Robinson (nee Roberts)

Freda spent her childhood growing up in Codnor, Derbyshire. She had 5 Sisters and 1 Brother. Dorothy, Kathleen, Ivy, Mary, Brenda & Maurice.

She met her husband, George at Langley Mills Wakes and they Married @ Cross Hill Church, Codnor on 20th Dec 1947. Sadly, after 54 years of Marriage, George passed away on 7th January 2001.

Freda was an incredibly hard working woman, who, as well as being a house-wife & mother, also held down several different jobs over the years. She worked at Langley Mill Pottery, Hattons of Melbourne, a biscuit factory & worked nights at one of the motorway service stations to name but a few.

They had 5 beautiful daughters, Ivy, Maureen, Rita, Deborah & Julie. Sadly, Julie (twin sister to Deborah, passed away at just 4 days old).

Both Freda & George shared a love of the outdoors and gardening. George was a Gardener @ Melbourne Hall in Derbyshire. The family lived in a lovely little cottage within the grounds, and enjoyed the beautiful surrounds.

As well as being the most loving, caring, kind & thoughtful Mother any child could ask for, Freda was a very kind a generous lady to all her family and friends. She would give her last penny to someone if it meant they would be happy.

As her children grew-up, left home and married. Her maternal instincts took over with the next generations and she was loved as much as a Grandma, Great-Grandma & Great Great Grandma as she was a Mother.

Her grand children were her world, and when they came to visit, even in those last few months when she was very poorly, the sight of seeing one of them would put the biggest, brightest beaming smile on her face.

She was adored by her 7 Grandchildren:-
Simon
Rebecca
James
Adam
Jamie
Craig
Josie

9 Great Grandchildren:-
Danielle
Chloe
Lily
Riley
Megan
Eva
Mason
Elliot
Amelia

and 1 Great-Great Grandson:-
Archie.

Memories

People keep telling me how good it was to have had the extra year to make more memories with Mum. Yes, it was.

Ihave so many memories, being the age I am, rather more than some of my sister's!

Some memories are really happy, others are very sad and some I'd really rather forget about altogether.

But, life as they say is a tapestry we all weave to make more memories with Mum with each other.

As I now walk around our home I see Mum's aprons, they're still there on the radiator where she always kept a couple ready for her next visit. I won't be moving them any time soon.

Then as I walk up the garden she is everywhere! She so loved our garden. Sitting on the deck watching the birds or hoping a squirrel would pop over from the church yard. Or throwing a toy for Buddy. And sometimes when it got too hot we'd all sit together under the oak tree that James grew from an acorn with Deanna, our neighbour.
She loved to 'potter'. Often taking the shears and 'pruning' bushes into shapes only she could recognise!

And when I think of going to our caravan there will be memories there too. She so loved it at Baumber on the fishing lake. She used to sit for hours watching the wildlife and David fishing. She loved to make us all a cuppa. Anything to help.

And now I have the most special memory of all. Saying a final farewell. Until we meet again Mum

Love you and miss you

Ivy x
