In loving memory of Bill West who sadly passed away on 9th January 2019, holding hands with both daughters.
Bill was born in 1928 to Lillian and Richard, at Waltham Abbey. He went to school at Waltham Abbey and started work at 14 years of age. Conscripted into the Army at 18 years, he served in Palestine and was mentioned in dispatches for driving his Bren Gun carrier into a dangerous zone in order to save civilians.
He married Joan in 1950 at Waltham Abbey Church and they had two daughters, Linda and Deborah.
His entire life was spent with his pal, Bill Goody. They lived next door to each other when born, went to school together, into the army together and both worked for Tescos for over 40 years. They also lived in the same street raising their respective families.
For the last 2 years Bill lived with his daughter Linda, after a fall which stopped him being independent. He had a growing army of friends he would feed outside his door, which included squirrels, deer, all kinds of birds etc. He was content, but frustrated with his mobility issues.
Now he is off with mum and no doubt they will have many happy adventures as they did in this life. RIP dad xx
