Mike was a warm and loving Uncle and Great Uncle. Aside from his joking, teasing manner, what stands out to me is his treating me as an adult, even from my teens - significant, for someone of his vintage (note the subtle wine appreciation reference!).
As the first to go to university in my part of the family, I shall also be forever grateful to him (and Auntie Margaret) for encouragement at a strategic point in the 6th form. I wanted to aim high, and was treated to a "fact-finding tour" ie a little visit to the place that became my alma mater.
