Kit Yin 'Johnny' Leung, aged 62 passed away peacefully on Saturday 22nd December 2018 at Cransley Hospice, St. Mary's Hospital after a courageous fight with cancer.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kit Yuk; his eldest son, Joemond and wife Lai Ping; second daughter Ching and husband Christopher; youngest daughter Kwan and partner James; and two grand-daughters, Abigail and Isabelle.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, he left school and started working at an early age to help support his parents and siblings through challenging times. He moved to England in 1979 where he started work in a textiles factory before being presented with an opportunity to work as a kitchen assistant. From there he was able to persue his love for food and cooking. Through hard work and training, he worked his way up to head chef in numerous Chinese restaurants and delighted his consumers, family and friends alike with his wonderful pallette and delicious dishes.
He later set up his own Chinese Take Away and was the founder of Shek Wu in Rushden.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His family was his greatest inspiration in life. He helped raise his children with patience, discipline and dignity. A lover of the great outdoors, he took them on long family trips to experience the natural beauty across the UK.
He taught the values of life and and the importance of family.
He truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures: bike-riding and taking long walks through the park, cook and eating, singing and most of all spending quality time with those he loved and held dear.
To reminisce his life and support each other, family and friends are invited to Kettering Warren Hill Crematorium, Rothwell Rd, Kettering NN16 8XE for his final journey at 2.30pm on Tuesday 8th January.
If you wish to see him and say your final goodbyes, you are welcome to at Co-Op Funeral Directors, Church St, Irthlingborough, Wellingborough NN9 5TZ from 12-1pm. We will set off from Co-Op at 2pm to the crematorium.
