For those who don't (or do) know much about Dad, he was born in Portaferry in Northern Ireland and joined the Navy to explore the world and of all places, ended up in Sheerness where he met his beloved wife, Jean Bentley as she was then.
Mum and Dad married in 1955 and had 2 sons with 3 grand-children, a great-granddaughter and great step-grandson, all of whom he loved and adored.
Dad was a dab hand in the tool-shed and kitchen and could turn his hands to most things like building extensions, DIY and even football coaching when he used to manage the Catholic Church 'Saints' boys' team back in the 1970's.
Over the years, Dad had several jobs including working on the tug-boats at Sheerness Docks despite the fact he couldn't swim and as a Security Officer.
Before and after his retirement, Dad loved gardening, fiddling around in his garage making or repairing things, attending Church, and reading, listening to music and watching sport, especially Arsenal FC.
But what he enjoyed most was spending time with his family, always interested in what they were doing and cracking the same old jokes where you knew the punchline before he started.
Alas Dad's health took a turn for the worse earlier this year and the last few months were particularly difficult and painful for him and his family.
In the end, he passed away peacefully at home with his family close by and is in a far better place, free from pain and reunited with loved ones.
While gone from us, Dad will forever be in our hearts and thoughts and we'll miss and love him each and every day.
