In loving memory of John Edward MARSHALL who sadly passed away on 10th December 2018. Greatly missed by his wife Fay and Sons Colin, Phil, Keith and Barry. May he Rest in Peace.

In life, John (our dad, and ever loving husband to our mum for 42 years), was a truly humble, genuine and honest man. He would do anything for his own, and protect us without fear. He was also a true “Jack of all Trades”, who would turn his hand to anything. Some of our fondest memories are of watching him build a motorbike from the ground up after he acquired a frame and some engine parts. Once the bike was completed it turned into a stunningly built and cared for Yamaha XT250, which he would often take us out on for test runs on a local cinder track. I remember the finish like I saw the bike just yesterday.. with its soft satin black fuel tank, adorned with gold trim and lettering. There seemed to be no imits to what our dad would turn a hand too, and of course, he would teach us anything we was willing to soak up. My own woodworking skills, and willingness to try and craft or build anything, all came from my dad. If there was a tool, he’d show us how to use it. From an idea, to an actual thing that we had built, was all made possible by our dads seeming endless knowledge. Some of our very first peddle bikes was built in our garage from old frames and mishmash parts, and they were truly the best bikes.. and the memories of playing out on our bikes, competing for longest wheelie or no hands.. if we was out playing, we almost always took our bikes. Dad would also take us on long bike rides to visit friends of the family, or just to take in some scenery on what seemed like the longest bike rides ever taken by anybody, lol.. but we loved it, and would always go, no matter how much it hurt our bottoms the last ride. Fond memories 😊

Today is the day after we said goodbye for one last time Dad. It’s no easier today than yesterday, and I can’t imagine life getting any easier any time soon. Knowing you’re no longer here to visit, ask for advice, or just to tell you we love you is the hardest thing my mind has ever had to bare. We will carry on, we will do our best, as we always have, and we will make sure mum knows every day how much we love her, and will never let her face life alone. One day, I may get to understand the logic of life, and why amazing people, and the most inspirational are the ones taken first.. but I know we shared a lot of the same mindset, and my way of thinking is if bad luck or heartache needs to be given, why shouldn’t I be the one to shoulder it... and so I do, and I will shoulder this pain as always, even if this is the heaviest pain I have ever carried.. and I’ll carry it for others too, when theirs is too heavy to bare.. just as you would Dad. I love you with every fibre in my, and everything I am, is you, and I am most grateful for being who I am, thanks to your constant and massive input throughout my whole life. Rest easy dad, don’t be fearful of anything, be with those you seek without hesitation or feeling of being lost.. and if ever you can find the time, you let us know you’re here any time you want. Forever loving and remembering you Dad.

Fishing is one of our favourite things to do, and something that we wish we did more of. Some of our fondest memories were by the water. Love you dad ❤️
