The Ballad of Boo
Autumn leaves are falling, forming carpets on the ground,
But summer swells in my heart, when I hear that wondrous sound.
Of the sweetest maiden you’ll ever know, sleeping in my arms,
And as she sighs so peacefully, even the stars up there are charmed….
Oh rest your eyes my tired fair maid, the morrow waits for you,
The morn will chase ye night away, eager to see its “Boo”
And when she wakes and greets the day, with that gorgeous smile,
The autumn leaves will fall no more, and the sun shines for the while….
So whilst this knight that holds her, gazes down upon her resting face
He meets an age alone tonight, yet this chalice he could not replace.
Far his soul has travelled, searching for journeys end,
His quest will soon be over, when that smile appears again.
“The Autumn leaves can fall down, the wind can blow and howl,
The darkness of the night can creep in, but there is no need to cowl.
Just rest, my sweet, in my arms”, he whispers to himself.
“I need no gold or treasure, for I have truly found my wealth”.
“So cradle in my arms my child, sleep and dream away.
This knight won’t rest until the deed is done, and kept the wolves at bay”,
He needs no protection for himself, from the angels looking down,
Cos he’s caught one so beautiful, and in his arms she’s bound.
