In loving memory of Carol Ann Holdsworth, aged 64, who sadly passed away on 20th November 2018 at Hayward House Hospice, following a short battle with stomach cancer.

Carol was born on 28th January 1954 at Preston Royal Infirmary. She was the eldest of three children of Robert and Joan North (nee Smith), and was raised in Penwortham, Preston, attending Penwortham Girls Grammar School. Carol married at the age of 25 and gave birth to her two sons, Anthony and Andrew, at the age of 27 and 30 respectively. Anthony was born in the Philippines, whilst Andrew was born in Lancashire.

Carol moved to the village of Keyworth in 1987 at the age of 33 and remained there ever since. Family meant everything to Carol; she considered her greatest achievement in life to be her children, Anthony and Andrew, whom she deeply loved and adored.

Carol trained as a beautician and had a passion for complementary therapies. Over the years she accrued numerous skills in the field of health and beauty, and most recently started training to become a hairdresser. She had a love of fashion, clothes, and make-up, which appealed to her artistic and creative nature.

Carol was beautiful, bright, bubbly, fun-loving and intelligent. She was a sensitive soul with a kind and caring nature and had the ability to converse with anyone. She loved to laugh, dance, sing and the company of friends, but above all, a good afternoon tea.

Carol was faced with multiple significant health challenges throughout her life including a serious car accident, breast cancer, and chronic mental health problems. Her strength, courage and determination in dealing with these challenges were admirable.

Carol is survived by her sons, Anthony Holdsworth and Andrew Holdsworth; her brother John North and sister Jennifer Lehrke (nee North); and her two nieces, Jessica North and Laura North.

A funeral service will be held at 12:20pm on the 5th December 2018 at Wilford Hill Crematorium, Loughborough Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 7FE. A reception will be held following the funeral service in the centre of West Bridgford; full details will be provided on the order of service. We would be grateful if you could indicate whether you will be attending using the “Attend Funeral” tab.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Research UK or Mind, using the links provided at the top right of the web page.

We would also be very grateful to receive any stories, memories, or photos of Carol that you may have. These can be uploaded using the “Write a Message” and “Add a Photo” tabs.

Carol will always be remembered by me as terrifically glam, wonderfully kind and with a permanent glint of fun in her eye. She was the personification of a fun auntie. Although why we all had to wear so much brown corduroy, when she looked so fab, is beyond me.... but I suppose it was the 80s! She will forever be remembered and live on through her beautiful boys. Rest in peace Auntie Carol xxxx
