In loving memory of William Arthur Ackroyd who sadly passed away on 3rd November 2018
Born 13 March 1931 in Nottingham, known as Bill or Billy and the eldest of five children in the family of Bill and Doris Ackroyd. Involved with cars and the motor trade since a boy working with his father, including rebuilding American cars left in the UK after WWII. A talented panel beater and paint sprayer rebuilding cars to their former glory.
Completed his National Service in the RAF then continued in the motor trade, eventually marrying Christine in 1957. Became self-employed in the 1970's having a garage workshop in the St Ann's area of Nottingham until retiring around 16 years ago.
Had four children - Pamela, Philip, Richard and Jolyon, four grand-children - Ryan, Talisa, Jade and Millicent, and four great grand-children - Teiella, Logan, Tristan and Milo.
Shared the last 27 years of his life with Rita until she sadly passed away in 2017.
In the latter years of his life he suffered with Parkinson's Disease and the gradual onset of dementia. Died in Lings Bar Hospital, Nottingham two Saturdays ago.
