John Clarke Reed - my brother
He sailed his own course through life
Battling against trouble and strife
Setting the longitude and latitude
With pinpoint exacting attitude
An experienced renegade navigator
And risk taking free spirited speculator
Over the waves constant push and pull
Always living life to the full
Travelling and settling in far flung places
Working and teaching and sailing boat races
His twinkle blue eyes and lucky gap smile
Mount gay and hot sunshine Caribbean style
His laugh and his warmth is what I'll miss most
His stories and hugs when I go to the coast
Mackerel skies and white horses no longer the same
I turn to look for you - call your name
But your journey has ended on the high seven seas
Carried away now on Heaven's gentle breeze
I wish I could see you just one more time
To tell you I love you biggest brother of mine

JohnRNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution
In loving memory of John Clark Reed who sadly passed away on 30th October 2018
He was born to parents Steven and Elizabeth, on September 17th 1947, in Westminster. He married his first wife, Sue, when he was twenty, and is survived by her and their children Jackie and Pete. He is predeceased by their eldest son, Paul. In 1981, John married Jennifer and is survived by her and their daughter, Samantha. John was also grandfather to Evie, Matthew and Freddie.
John was known for his love of sailing. He was never happier than when he was 'messing around' on boats and loved to share his passion for the sea with his friends and family. It is for this reason that the family ask that people make donations in support of the RNLI, in lieu of sending flowers.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday 20th November 2018, at 11:30am. at Bournemouth Crematorium. Refreshments to follow at The Fiveways public house.
