In loving memory of Ruth Davis who sadly passed away on 7th November 2018, aged 65 years.

Ruth was born on June 17th 1953 in the Yeatman Hospital, Sherborne to mum Joan, a mid-wife and Dad Ted, a Latin Teacher.
Her brother John was born three years later.
The family lived in a Victorian semi on the A30. They never had a car or a telephone in those days.
Ruth went to Newell House School and then the local Grammar School, Lord Digby's.
School Holidays were often spent in Taunton with Gran (mum's mum) and Uncle Bill (Mum's brtoher) and Auntie Glad.
Everything changed when Ruth's Dad died suddenly when she was 16.
She was unable to carry on with the 3 A levels and 1 extra O level. So she just did 2 A levels in English and French.
in 1971 she was accepted for Teacher Training at St Alfred's College, Winchester on condition she spent some time in France beforehand.
She started college in January 1972 and finished in December 1974 having gained a Certificate in Education.

Her first teaching poast was at St John's, midsomer Norton (5 years). she then moved to Trinity School, Taunton in 1979 by which time her mum had moved from Sherborne to Taunton.
in 1986 Ruth took a Debuty Headship at St Peter's, Williton.
in 2002 she resigned and began a part-time post with Dennis.
As Dennis was blind, Ruth helped him in his job as an OU Tutor. She read out and helped mark student's assignments and took Dennis to tutorials wither in Bristol, Swindon and laterly Taunton.
Whilst working with Dennis, Ruth's mum and Uncle died. By this time John was back in Taunton and looked after both of them and their affairs.

During her teaching career, Ruth made the most of her holidays, often travelling with Anne and Joan.
They visited communist Russia, France and Holland.
Anne and Ruth also visited the USA, Cyprus, germany, Spain, Corsica, Belgium, Malta and Gozo.

Since inheriting number 23, Ruth embarked on various major improvements including an extension containing a new Kitchen.
Ruth was an avid jigsaw maker in the winter and a keen gardener during the rest of the year.
