Betty Wanley (24 Jul 1947 - 21 Oct 2018)
In loving memory of Betty Wanley who sadly passed away on 21st October 2018 aged 71 years
Betty (affectionately known as Bett) was born Betty Glenn in Coventry to parents Albert and Betty. She grew up alongside 3 brothers (Len, John and Fella) and 2 sisters (Joan and Claire). The family resided in Coventry and it was here that Bett met John.
Bett and John married in 1967 and Betty became Betty Wanley. The newlyweds set up home in Coventry and a few years later had their first child Amanda. They then moved to Braunston and then settled in Rugby after finding their perfect home that they shared the rest of her life in. Shortly after moving to Rugby they had their second child Andrew, making their family unit complete.
In 1989, a year after her daughter married, Bett was first diagnosed with breast cancer. Although this was a huge blow to her, she remained positive as she told those around her that she had lots to live for. In particular she loved spending as much time as possible with her steadily growing number of grandchildren, and this year her first great grandchild.
Over the years Bett continued to fight, beating her illness, only to see it resurface on 3 more occasions. But she always had some goal to look toward to in her life. As well as spending time with her family, she and John enjoyed playing badminton, indoor bowling and gardening. She also loved spending holidays along the coasts of the British Isles, which she did with her husband, her children and her grandchildren. One of her latest goals was to spend her 50th wedding anniversary in Weymouth, a place that Bett and John loved to visit, where she was spoilt by her daughter and son-in-law.
29 years later sadly Bett lost her long fight but not before she fulfilled many of her dreams. Bett will be missed greatly by her husband John, daughter Amanda, son-in-law Barlow, grandchildren Chomice, Bernice, Kurtis, Dahmicca, Chrysti-Anne, Troy and her great granddaughter Amara. Bett was kind, loving, friendly and loyal and will also be missed by her sisters and brothers and their families as well as her many close friends.
Written in loving memory of my mum by her daughter Amanda
