I had the pleasure of working with Gary at Sheffield Hallam University, I am so sorry to hear of his passing, he was a genuinely nice fella with the same dry sense of humour as me. I am sorry I missed the funeral, I have only just heard the news. My sincere condolences to all the family, my thoughts and prayers are with you all this evening.

I will always remember Gary as a kind and intelligent man. I nicknamed him the 'work tart' for a while when he was head hunted and moved from job to job; leading to the US, where we had a lovely time visiting him and Jacqui and travelling to Washington together. He had a very funny dry humour and I will miss his little grumbles about the world. He loved a good glass of wine (or a G&T), so we will frequently raise a glass in his honour.
