Such sad news. We first met around 1987 in KSA and later on in UAE.

Rosemary and I met when I too was working in the Renal Unit at Nottingham City Hospital. We were both nursing sisters then and I believe worked at a time that was truly pioneering. We were there for the first kidney transplant performed at the City and for the “new age” dialysis machine called a Redy. We worked hard but found time as dear Linda said to have fun and laughter in our busy work day. Rosie and I became fast friends and I remember speeding along in her Triumph TR6. Oh we were so cool! In 1976 I moved to the USA for work and adventure and this is now my home. But Rosie and I never lost touch. We shared letters, emails, birthday, Thanksgiving and Christmas cards. I am going to miss you, dear Rosie. I thank you for your friendship and memories of both work and play. Good bye sweet lady. Rest peacefully. It was too soon. Love Sue.

The first machine in Nottingham. Rosemary is the second from the left. I think the Doctor on the right is Martin Knap

  • This is a picture of Rosemary and I, Sue Turton Weeks, along with Martin Knapp and a dear, sweet patient to the right of Rosie, Joyce Ward. We were attending a fund raiser for the Renal Unit. Along with our “new “age” dialysis machine, the Redy.

I worked with Rosemary for many years on Mayflowe ward at Derriford hospital until I retired December 2017 and I am now a funeral minister which I love. I was a ward administrator on mayflower ward. Rosemary wast a first class nurse a wise owl and didn’t suffer fools lightly. She was a lovely caring lady who took her vocation very seriously old school You might say she use to say that we were cut from the same cloth. We shared a mutual colleague/friend in Ellen who lives in Australia. I was really saddened to hear of Rosemary’s passing she will be sadly missed. After all your years of hard work Rosemary may you now rest in peace God Bless a life well lived. Linda Dodwell
