It is with saddest regret that we announce the death of SAMUEL AUGUSTUS BARRETT (SAMPIE), Aged 95.

Mr Barrett died on the 11th October 2018, at St James Hospital after a short illness.

Mr Barrett was born on the 19th August 1923, Manchester, Jamaica. Mr Barrett moved to England in the 1950’s. Mr Barrett was a loving partner to Leona Crosse, who preceded him in death.

Mr Barrett is survived by his 1 daughter, 2 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and his brother, Gilbert and Martin. Mr Barrett is also survived by his step family in Jamaica and the USA, including his 1 step son, step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mr Barrett worked at Kirkstall Forge before his retirement in the 1980’s. During retirement, Mr Barrett continued to live a full life, travelling abroad, socialising with peers and spending time with family, as well as being a committed member of Jamaica House.

The Funeral service will be held at Lawnswood Crematorium on Tuesday 23rd October 2018 at 11:40, followed by a reception at Mecure, Leeds Parkway Hotel at 12:30. Otley Road, LS16 8AG
