In loving memory of Marion Rose Askham, our wonderful Mother, who sadly passed away on 27th September 2018.

We would like to honour Mum on the day of her funeral by celebrating the life she had which was full and varied.

Mum was loved by many, as the moving tributes we have received reflect.

She was born and raised in Rainham, by her loving parents, Wally and Rose and her brother Wally who she shared a very close relationship full of laughter and love.

She stayed in touch with many of her friends from these days including Betty Pizzala, Maureen Sutton and Annette Gurr who were true friends to the end.

When Mum married Dad they left London and moved to Essex where she became a well known person in Leigh on Sea with lots of friends including The Coven, who were a constant in her life particularly when Dad was ill. She was also actively involved at Belfairs Methodist Church, helping out with coffee mornings, fetes and jumble sales.

Dad and Mum were keen travellers and after retiring revisited the world Dad has seen whilst travelling for work. They explored America, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the UK together. Anyone who knew Dad knows he was at his happiest when he had Mum to himself! They really did have the time of their life.

She remained close to family . It has been commented on that she was the rock of the family which she was. We had many laughs on family days particularly with Mary and Jill.

She loved time with her step grandchildren Harry and Flora and was very proud of the adults they became.

Most of all she was adored by her daughters and in return she adored us. We spoke every day sometimes more than once (to the annoyance of Dad) and it is that we have missed most the last three years.

We are bereft at her loss but take comfort in the fact she is with Dad, Wally , her Mum and Dad and friends and no longer suffering.

Please wear some colour on the day of her funeral, she was a happy person and we want to reflect that in a celebration of her life.

After the cremation we will be at Belfairs Park Restaurant and would love you all to join us. We picked this venue as we had such a fantastic family party to celebrate Nan and Grandad's golden wedding anniversary there. The photographs we have uploaded are from that evening.

For funeral flowers we are using Fiori in Leigh on Sea or donations to the Alzheimer Society, link attached

Please do leave a comment for her memory book.

Thanks

Jayne & Joe

Marion has always been a part of our lives - living through the numerous memories and stories that mum (Betty) shared with us as well as the visits the two of them shared.

Their lives were closely intertwined from birth to childhood through to early adulthood before life meant they drifted in different directions - but only geographically as they remained close throughout their lives.

Happy memories - and we, (Betty, Janine & Nicole), count ourselves blessed to have been part of Marion's life xx

My dear auntie Marion will be missed by so many !! She was always such a fabulously happy person always available to help everyone she came into contact with.

Marion made sure she kept in regular contact with us especially when Ben & Jack were young spoiling them with lovely presents on birthdays and at Christmas as well as gifts from holidays such as the replica guns from the American Wild West that the boys loved.

Marion will be missed by many as she was such a beautiful caring person with the biggest heart.

Rest in peace all our love xxx
