I’ve been Coming to his grave for the past 2 days. I live locally and came to the graveyard to relax. I felt a connection with Duncan and I don’t know why as I am not a family or friend of Duncan’s. His grave is a relaxing place for me. Live on Duncan and you will be remembered forever

  • I just googled Duncan's name ,to see what he was up to in the Prison Service.I retired in 2006 .I met Duncan for the first time at HMP Wandsworth. My first wife and I attended Duncan and Karen's wedding in a lovely little church in Yorkshire and onto the reception in a Leeds Hotel.I had a jukebox that he bought off me and he introduced me to Van Morrison (the music) He told us of his fish finger trick or the chapati trick shuffling them and getting someone to pick one out and correctly identifying the correct(?) one.Happy memories of one crazy lovely man.

I have known big Duncan for over 40 years and will miss him dearly - I can't believe he will no longer be ringing me up to go out for a pint or ask how the horse is doing - unreal.
He was a gentleman, a true friend and always willing to help no matter what the problem.
I remember many years ago him walking into The Railway Pub at East Ardsley with Karen, both arms broken after a run in with an inmate at Wandsworth !! even then he had that big grin on his face.
We went with Duncan, Karen and Josh on holiday to Thassos a few years back and Josh learnt to swim on that holiday - a brilliant 2 weeks.
Great sense of humour, quick witted and a very smart man - always dressed immaculately.
My heart goes out to Karen and Josh who he loved so very much - and they him.
What a loss - I am a better man for having known him - God Bless you Dunc - Paul.B.

Duncan, I knew you 21 years since I was that crazy terrified new Prison Officer in training and you were my tutor. Thanks to you, I passed my course. We became friends and the rest is history. You were a guy who was one in a billion. I’ve never known anyone like you. You lit up a room when you walked in with your flamboyant personality and everybody loved you. You were your own man and did what you believed in and not what you were told. I am blessed to have had you in my life as a friend. You will be terribly missed but a guy like you doesn’t die, you will live on in people’s hearts forever. God bless and I hope they have a good barber where you are! I’ll miss you 😘 xx Jo, Chorkie & Timmy xx

Sincere condolences at Duncan’s passing. I worked with him at HMP Wandsworth from 1886-89. Duncan was always cracking a joke, always positive and was a real gent. My thoughts & prayers go out to Karen and his family at this time.
