Biography about Hannah

Hannah Frances Arnold 'formerly Rhodes' was born in Burton on Trent on the 30th November 1988. Hannah attended John of Rolleston Primary School before progressing to The de Ferrers Academy.
Hannah was a bright and gifted student who enjoyed not only learning, but participating in various music groups throughout her time at school. Hannah's ambition after attending the sixth form led her to study at the University of Leeds before attending University of Leicester, Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Derby. In this time she attained a Bachelor’s degree in addition to two Masters degrees and a Teaching degree.

Her passion towards education and supporting children and young people revealed her empathy, understanding and desire to make a difference to people's lives. Most recently, Hannah fulfilled a role at The Fountains Academy as a Special Educational Needs Teacher, a role she deeply missed when her condition prevented her from doing what she loved. Even weeks before her sudden passing, Hannah spoke of the importance of the role to her and how she wished to return should she get the chance to do so.

Besides her education and employment, Hannah's family and friends were very important to her. She married in August 2017. She allocated large amounts of her life to socialising and travelling. In her time she visited various locations far and wide, including trips to Jamaica, New York, Las Vegas, China, Singapore and many trips to destinations across Europe. When Hannah wasn’t travelling she was always socialising in one way or another, enjoying a glass of prosecco or gin in a range of glamorous settings.

Hannah’s dogs were also an important part of her life. Ella and Iyla were here pride and joy; she enjoyed so much time relaxing with them and going out for countryside walks and holidays.

Hannah was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer (Sarcoma) in January 2018. She underwent chemotherapy and surgery in an attempt to prolong her life, but sadly passed away on Monday 17th September 2018.

Hannah has inspired a huge amount of people demonstrating great courage and bravery. Her tough and determined outlook on her life with cancer didn't prevent her achieving many things, including raising money for charity and entertaining herself through holidays, evenings out and health and beauty treatments. Her bravery was illustrated further when three days after returning home from major surgery, Hannah walked down the aisle as a bridesmaid at one of her best friend’s wedding. Everyone was astonished by this, but this was very typical of Hannah’s attitude and determination to achieve what she wanted throughout her life.

I did not really know Hannah, but met her at my daughter Stephanie's wedding as she worked with Hannah as her clasroom assistant and was also good friends with her. I followed her incredibly brave journey since her diagnosis at such a tragically young age and could not help but be very moved by not only her bravery but also her positivity and cheerfulness during what must have been the most absolutely terrible experience imagineable. She must have been an incredible person and her family and friends must be very proud to have loved her so much, and had the priviledge of having her in their lives. May she rest in peace and is no longer suffering - the world has lost an inspiration. Thinking of all who knew and loved her and particularly her closest family. X
