In loving memory of Pamela Hole who sadly passed away on 17th September 2018

PAMELA ADA ELIZABETH HOLE - 11/03/1933 to 17/09/2018

Mum grew up and lived her life in Taunton, she wasn’t from a wealthy family, but it was a happy one. She was the youngest of four children and loved her parents dearly. Sadly by the time she was eleven, both had died and this as you would imagine, had a lasting effect on her.
Her importance of family or rather creating her own family unit was of paramount importance to her, something she passed on to her own children.
She met her life partner and husband, Ivor, our dear Dad when she was only 13 and this childhood romance grew; lasting more than 60 years before he died just under ten years ago. On the face of it Dad doted on Mum and he did, but in truth Mum loved him more than anyone else in the world and it is comforting to know she’s reunited with him now.
In her youth Pam was sporty, athletic, confident and bossy. Her lifelong childhood neighbour and friend, Lillian Whitely, will vouch for that! She was competitive swimming at county level, trim and lithe; and well into her fifties could still touch her toes with straight legs and do the splits. Pity she didn’t pass that gene on to her children...!
As with everyone her life was marked with highs and lows. The most significant of which was when she was diagnosed with Depression in the early 1970’s. Thorough out that decade she had various spells in hospital which included electro shock therapy and then she became the victim of and misuse of additive prescription anti-depressive drugs, such as Mogadon, Valium and the like.
No treatments really cured her, but it is a credit to Mum’s resolve and tenacity that she alone embarked on a Detox programme, gradually weaning herself off these prescription drugs (with professional guidance) to return to person we know love. Around this time she also became an active member of St Peter’s Church, Lyngford. The Church nursed and cared for her spirituality and her faith in Christ grew. St Peter’s and all her wonderful friends of the congregation here, over the years, young and old, were her Rock. I know she appreciated all your kind wishes, thoughts, love and prayers especially over the past few weeks. Thank you for everything you did for her!
Mum was bright, feisty and intelligent, though because she wasn’t academic, she never realised this herself.
She loved singing in the choir and participating in Church events. She baked excellent cakes, decorated beautiful hand moulded marzipan Christmas cakes, baked fancy birthday cakes for us as children and produced the most amazing light pastries and tarts. She was a sun worshipper spending many holidays abroad with Dad and latterly me and other family members. We had our final holiday in Portugal only this June. She had an artistic flare, loved Jewellery and quality clothes and was always immaculately dressed, well coiffured and loved perfume.

I’ve forgotten to mention her skilful budgeting abilities and her ability to put others needs above her own, but I’m sure you all, already know this.
In the end her death was sudden. She didn’t fear death, her faith kept her strong to the very end and was inspiring to see and reassuring for us all.
It was a privilege she could spend her last few days with Douglas and me, surrounded by her family as she wanted, sound in the knowledge she was loved by all her friends, family and members of the congregation here.
We all loved Mum in our own special way. Mum you will remain always in my heart and those of your family and friends, now go and enjoy your transformation into the arms of the one you love and love eternally.
