In loving memory of Mr Francis (Frank) Bernard Doyle who sadly passed away on 3rd September 2018 aged 72 years.
Beloved husband of Barbara, devoted father of Lynne and proud older brother to Tony and Peter.

Born in Liverpool to Frank and Catherine. Followed by two brothers Anthony and Peter. The family spent time in Dublin, Widnes and Runcorn.

On joining the army at 17 he travelled but with regiments based in Kent and became an adoptive southerner when marrying Barbara in 1972.

He had a happy and successful army career retiring at 40 from the Royal Engineers.

This was followed by 25 years one with the civil service, bodies associated to government and local government.

In this second retirement he became a case worker for CROP - advocacy for older people and SSAFA - the armed forces charity to which he was passionate and committed.

Donations, if so desired, for SSAFA, the armed forces charity, can be made through the just giving link.

If you wish, floral tributes may be sent c/o Viner & Sons Ltd, 54 High Street, West Malling. ME19 6LU.

After the service refreshments will be available at the Hilton Hotel, Maidstone to continue celebrating his life.

Sadly, I am not able to attend the funeral next week. When I joined the LSC in 2002, Frank was instrumental in sharing with me all he knew (and that was a great deal!) about work based learning. Much of what I now understand about apprenticeships, came from what he shared with me. Frank was a dedicated, conscientious colleague, with a wonderful sense of humour. I will always remember him.

I only met frank at SSAFA Branch meetings, so I did not know him well, but as a fellow Sapper I always thought he was one of the best representatives of the Corps. I will miss his cheerful face and demeanor at future meetings and I offer my sincere thoughts and condolences to his family.

I am so sorry I cannot attend Frank’s funeral but will light a candle here in France. Frank was a valued SSAFA volunteer who approached everyone - fellow volunteers, clients, agencies, service charities - in the same gentlemanly and knowledgeable way, quietly determined to get the best result and to make a difference. I will miss his stalwart support and friendship.
