In loving memory of the late Kenneth Edward Wharton who sadly passed away on 9th January 2015.
Ken was born on March 20th 1933. Man and boy he loved to watch and play football with ambitions to play for his beloved West Bromwich Albion, but this was not to be.
National service cauht up with Ken so of he went to the RAF and ended up playing football.
Ken was married to his first and only love Joyce and they shared many happy hoildays together towing a caravan around Scotland and up and down to Cornwall for many happy years.
Ken spent his working life at the Birmingham Carriage works, serving his apprenticeship and a coach trimmer and finisher and later went on to work at Triumph motor cars in Coventry and then finally as a car body repairer from which he retired.
Joyce and Ken lived in Croft for around 50 years buying there brand new house in Sparkenhoe and living next to their long time friends and neighbours Joan and Ken Jones.
Ken spent many weekends in the Heathcote arms with the company of his nephews Alan and Robert who allegedly led him astray and regularly making him late for Sunday lunch.
After his beloved Joyce passed away Ken renewed his aquatence with the Heathcote and was a regular in the pub each and every lunchtime spent with his good friends. Ken, this gent, will be sorley missed by his family and friends but we must smile at the fact that he is now back with his one and only Joyce. God Bless Ken and give Joyce a hug from us.
