Clement Charles Knowles (30 Jul 1951 - 7 Sep 2018)

In loving memory of Clement Charles Knowles who sadly passed away on the 7th September 2018 aged 67 years old.

Clem was born at home on the 30th July 1951 to Cyril & May Knowles. He was the second youngest of 7 children which included 3 Brothers, Ron, Keith & Andrew and 3 sisters Ethel, Sylvia & Susan.

Clem attended Whinney Lane Primary School in Ollerton and then went on to Dukeries Comprehensive School where he enjoyed Woodwork, Metalwork & Pottery. It was here were he first met the love of his life, Christine.

Upon leaving secondary school he went on to work in the farm unit at Dukeries where he would attend Brackenhurst College in Southwell once a week and gained qualifications in Horticulture & Grounds Maintenance.

Clem enjoyed taking Christine to the cinema in his Green Austin A35 with white stripes. They often enjoyed trips to the coast and attended Saturday morning matinee at the Ollerton Picture House. After a night out they would enjoy sharing chips, fish without batter and a pea mix.

Clem married Christine on a bitterly cold day in January 1973 at St Giles Church, Old Ollerton. The reception was held at the Blue Tit Public House which was situated at the end of the road Clem was born at. Around the same time they moved into their first home, a caretakers house on the Dukeries Comp site. In 1975 Clem started his new job as a Landscape Gardener for Nottinghamshire County Council and they soon moved to a company bungalow on the Lawn Recreational Grounds. It was here where Christine gave birth to their first child, Matt. The family enjoyed holidays abroad to Majorca & Ibiza and in the summer of 1981 Christine gave birth to their second child, Simon.

Clem worked for Nottinghamshire County Council for 45 years in different jobs roles however he was forced to retire due to ill health. Clem enjoyed spending time pottering around in the garden and also in the kitchen trying new recipes. When he was well enough he enjoyed sailing away on various cruises, 8 in total including visits to the Caribbean & Mediterranean.

Back home he especially enjoyed spending time with his four grandchildren. He often went to watch his two granddaughters Leah & Sophie at horse shows and he was incredibly proud of their achievements. He would also enjoy Sunday lunch times where he would spend time with his younger grandsons, Isaac & Ethan building with Lego blocks, doing jigsaw puzzles and reading books.

Clem passed away surrounded by his family. He was loved by everyone and will be missed by so many!
